Placement Searches

We can support you in finding the right placement for your child or young person.

When a child or young person has an Education, Health and Care Plan, you have the right to request any nursery, school or college. These are listed in section 38(3) of the Children and Families Act (CFA) 2014. The image below helps demonstrates the different types of placements.

There’s also different types of schools and institutions, those controlled by:

  • the local authority,

  • the secretary of state and

  • by private contractors.

Keeping it simple:

  • Maintained schools are defined by how they are controlled.

  • Mainstream schools are defined by their provision.
